Basic Directions

From the Mexico City area, the best way to get to Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa by car is by heading south on the Autopista Del Sol to Acapulco on the coast. This is a well-maintained and safe toll road. From Acapulco, take Highway 200 along the coast up to Zihuatanejo. 200 continues along towards Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta, several hundred kilometers farther up the coast.
