Airports

Most visitors to San Cristobal de las Casas will fly into the Tuxtla Gutierrez Airport which is located approximately 50 miles (80 km) west. In most cases, you will need to fly into Mexico City and change planes to get to the Tuxtla Gutierrez Airport. Car rentals are available at the airport for your convenience.

Ground Transportation

Long-distance buses service San Cristobal de las Casas and run regular services to major cities and towns such as Oaxaca, Cancun and Villahermosa. If you are interested in arriving on one of these buses, be sure to book at least a day or two in advance. While everything is within walking distance, taxis are available to get around San Cristobal de las Casas.

Basic Directions

Driving to San Cristobal de las Casas is most commonly achieved by following Highway 190 (Pan American Highway) that runs southeast from Mexico City. It is about a 52 mile drive east from Tuxtla Gutierrez and about an 18 hour drive from Mexico City.
