Airports

The Leon/El Bajio Airport is located approximately 90 miles (145 km) west of San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City's Benito Juarez International Airport is located about 175 miles (280 km) southeast of San Miguel de Allende. Taxis are available to get you to San Miguel de Allende from the airport. There are no direct buses from the airport so you will have to connect through other cities to arrive by bus.

Ground Transportation

Taxis are available at both the Leon/El Bajio Airport and the Benito Juarez International Airport in Mexico City. Renting a car and driving from Mexico City is a less desirable option because of the traffic congestion in Mexico City.

Basic Directions

Driving to San Miguel de Allende can be a challenge for some drivers. Roads weave through the mountainous roads of Northern Mexico. Car rentals are available in San Miguel de Allende and are a good method of getting out and seeing the nearby areas but while in town, walking or taxis may be a better method.
